How to update outdated Shopify translations

Find the fields affected by a source edit, compare old and new text and refresh just the translations that need attention.

Practical guide

How do I update only the translations affected by a Shopify edit?

Open Markets and use Translate outdated for the affected language. Ranklate detects source changes to products and collections in real time. For a page or blog article, first select Check for updates.

Steps in the app

  1. Compare the old and new source in the editor. Identify precisely what changed, such as a material, quantity or care instruction.
  2. Check which fields are locked for that language and market. A locked field is skipped by AI jobs. If its content also needs revising, review that field manually.
  3. Review the updated text beside the source. Keep the item in draft for manual approval, or use automatic publication after all checks for the item pass.

Worked example

Suppose an Italian lamp description changes from ottone to acciaio. The English text still says brass. Update the description to steel, then verify the finish and any care instructions against the original. An approved, locked product name can remain untouched.
